It all began with a village sawmill in 1924 in Kallfors, a little village south west of Piteå in the far north of Sweden. Today, the family-owned business is Sweden’s leading company in the industrial production of climate-smart, timber-framed apartment buildings.
Over the years, the business that began its journey as a little sawmill gradually grew to include evermore advanced products by processing the construction industry’s only renewable raw material – the forest. And no, we don’t use much of it; in terms of the volume of forest felled in Sweden every year, we only use around 0.04 percent.
We’re pushing for sustainable development in the construction industry. By using timber frames, our construction system reduces carbon emissions by more than half compared to conventional materials. And if we include the carbon sink, we reduce our carbon emissions by a further 70 per cent. In other words, we’re the go-to choice if you’re aiming for climatesmart construction. But because good can always be better, we’re constantly developing our sustainability offering.
It’s probably a Lindbäck family haracteristic, always wanting to evolve, refine and discover new ways to achieve better results. And it’s why we’ve spent 30 years working together with Luleå university of Technology to develop the construction system that is today’s world leader for the industrial production of timberframed multifamily buildings. But the work continues, we’re always redefining standard practices and looking for new, innovative solutions.
We make buildings the way others make cars by using industrial methods in a controlled, high-tech environment where quality is assured every step of the way. And we do it in a process developed under the LEAN philosophy. And we also offer a safe work environment with no heavy lifting or hazardous operations. The mere fact that we build our modules in a fully sheltered environment is a major benefit. What’s more, our factory enables us to sort more than 90 per cent of our waste. Our factory on Haraholmen in Piteå is quite the bucket list experience, and it attracts visitors from around the world.
Thanks to our industrial construction methods based on clearly specified orders, we can make buildings at virtually fixed prices. Our process minimises unexpected costs.
And because assembly at the construction site is also faster than conventional construction, your tenants get to move in sooner and the credit clock stops ticking earlier. If you let us optimise your project we can halve the on-site construction time.
We’ve industrialized the construction process, but not the architecture. Our construction system is flexible and offers great freedom for architects to design buildings in different ways. There’s nothing to prevent us from creating beautiful buildings in many different vernaculars. What they all have in common are our benefits, especially reducing their CO2 emissions by more than half thanks to their timber frames.
We have the skills to offer you an end-to-end solution from project planning to turnkey building. If you wish, you can save your own personnel by letting us take care of the entire journey from project start to moving in. It’s up to you. Our expertise is your guarantee of a high-quality delivery.
As a responsible family business, we’ve been building our group over generations taking care to ensure stable, sustainable entrepreneurship over the long term. You can rely on a Lindbäcks handshake.
